The Purpose and Benefit of this Guide

The purpose and benefit of this booklet is to give new adult volunteers a basic reference with respect to the duties and requirements of the respective volunteer positions in a Cub Scout Pack.

Welcome!

Welcome to Cub Scouts! You have taken the first step into a role that can be one of the most fulfilling experiences you’ll ever have! Not only will you be working to enhance the experience of your child or children, you’ll also be helping to enrich the lives of other children as well as the other Adult Volunteers you’ll be working with. Leadership is a challenge in and of itself, much less taking it on as a volunteer. This guide is the first tool you’ll have in navigating the passage from “mom” or “dad” into the role of “Cub Scout Leader”. There are a number of requirements that each Adult Leader must fulfill to become a qualified and trained Adult Leader and with this resource we’ll ensure you not only get there, but you get there with the knowledge you’ll need to be successful in your role. Let’s get started with a bit of this history of Cub Scouts.
